Printing FAQ's
Use this page to find answers to some of the commonly asked questions about printing at Terra Community College. Click on a question to see the answer. From the answer, you can use the BACK link to return to the question.

1.)  How much does it cost?
Black and white copies and prints cost $0.05 per page.

2.)  Where can I print? Make copies?
Printing is available in all labs and from the computers in Building B on the 3rd floor Atrium and in the Library. Copies are also available from the computers in building B on the 3rd floor Atrium and in the Library.

3.)  Where can I scan? How much does it cost?
There is a scanner located in Building B 3rd floor Atrium with Computer #20 and another located in the Library. Scanning is free. You may save to your media (IE: flash drive or floppy disk). However, you may choose to print a copy of your scan in black and white for $0.05 per page.

4.)  How do I print?
  • From the computer you are sitting at click Print
  • When the second window comes up, you will see the total cost of your print job.
  • To go ahead and release the job – click Print
  • To cancel the job – click Cancel
  • Slide your new Student ID Card or enter your 5 digit student ID into the Release Station next to printer
  • Enter your pin # and Press the Print button on the Release Station.
  • Use the up/down symbol on the Release Station to select the job you wish to release
  • Click the Enter Symbol.
  • Your job will print and the money will be deducted from your account
  • Make sure you press the C/CE on the Release Station to clear your account or the person behind you could use your money to print

  • 5.)  How do I copy?
    Copying is available from the printer in the Library and also from the printer in the Atrium of the 3rd floor of Building B.
  • Place your copy face down on the printer
  • Enter your pin # and Press the Copy button on the Release Station
  • Click the Green Start Button on the printer/copier
  • Make sure you press the C/CE on the Release Station to clear your account or the person behind you could use your money to make more copies.

  • 6.)  What if I don’t have an ID card? Where do I get one?
    Go to the Help Desk in B308 and you can get your new Terra student ID card.

    7.)  My student ID card isn’t working in the printer’s card reader. Why not? What do I do?

    If your card was issued prior to Spring Semester 2008, you will need to get a new Student ID card. The encoding on the back of the card has changed. It’s easy to get a new card. Just take your old student ID card to the Help Desk in B308 and you can get a new one that will identify you as a Terra student. Your new card will be able to be read in all of the Card Reading devices on campus.


    8.)  What if I don’t have my ID--I left my ID at home, in the car, at my friends, in the other building, etc.

    You can print or make copies by entering your 5 digit student ID number into either the Virtual Cash Acceptor or the release station next to the BAtrium printer or in the LRC.


    9.)  I don’t have any money on my card, can I use my friend’s?

    Printing--No. Printing is attached to your student user name. You can only use your student ID to release print jobs attached to your student username. Other students cannot access your print jobs.

    Copying--Yes. When copying, you can have your friend swipe their Student ID Card or enter their ID number to enable copying with the printer in the BAtrium and in the LRC. However, money will be taken off your friend's account for your copies. MONIES CANNOT BE TRANSFERRED BETWEEN ACCOUNTS.


    10.)  Can someone else use my account?

    Printing--No. Printing is attached to your student user name. You can only use your student ID to release print jobs.

    Copying--Yes. You can swipe your Student ID Card or enter your student ID number and allow a different student to make copies on the printer in the BAtrium and in the LRC. Monies will be taken off of your account for their copying. MONEY CANNOT BE TRANSFERRED BETWEEN ACCOUNTS.


    11.)  How do I add money to my print account?

    To add money to your print account, you will need to go to building B of the third floor Atrium. and insert money in the Virtual Cash Acceptor next to the printer. You will then slide your Student ID Card or enter your 5-digit student ID number and follow the directions on the Screen. DO NOT put more money on your account than you will use. There are NO REFUNDS.


    12.)  What if I don’t use all of my print account money this semester? Does it "roll over" to next semester?

    Yes, your print account money will roll over to the next semester. The money in your print account that isn’t used in one semester will be available on your account for the next semester. FYI: DO NOT PUT TOO MUCH MONEY ON YOUR STUDENT ID ACCOUNT. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS.


    13.)  How long can I use my print account money after the semester ends? Can I use it when I am no longer a student?

    Your student account remains active for approximately one year after you are no longer a student. You may use the funds in your print account any time until your account becomes inactive. FYI: DO NOT PUT TOO MUCH MONEY ON YOUR STUDENT ID ACCOUNT. THERE ARE NO REFUNDS.


    14.)  I still have a Singles print card, can I use it?

    No, the Singles card will no longer work. If you have one of these cards, you may bring your old printing card to the Help Desk in B308 where the card balance will be checked and the balance credited to your new Student ID card account


    15.)  What is a printing PIN? Is it my student number or social security number or what? Does Terra assign a PIN to me? How do I get a PIN?

    A PIN is a four-digit numbered code that you will be prompted to enter the first time that you print or add monies to your Student ID printing account. The 4-digit number that you enter will be your PIN number which you will use every time that you print. REMEMBER YOUR PIN NUMBER!


    16.)  What if I forget my PIN?

    Go to the Help Desk in B308 or B309 where your PIN# will be erased and you will then reset your PIN at the Release Station or Virtual Cash Acceptor next to the printer in BAtrium.


    17.)  How do I know how much money is on my card?
  • When you login to the computer you will see a box appear in the upper right hand of your screen, this shows how much money you have available in your account to print.
  • When you slide your Student ID card or enter your 5-digit Student ID number into either the Virtual Cash Acceptor next to B304 / BAtrium Printer or the Release Station – the amount of money you have available is displayed to you.

  • 18.)  What if I run out of money on my card in the middle of printing, can I add more?

    If you don’t have enough money on your card, your print job will not be released until money is added to your card sufficient to print the entire job.


    19.)  If I don’t have money, can I save my work to this computer and print later?

    Yes, every student is assigned space on the school server. When you are logged into your account, you may just save into the “My Documents” file. Your work will automatically be saved on your server account. You should be able to retrieve your work from any Terra computer that you are logged into. You can locate it in the “My Documents” file.


    20.)  If I’m not a student this semester, can I print or make copies?

    You may use the computers and copier in the Library. The librarian will collect your copying fee and release your job.
